Using any kind of refilled, recycled, or remanufactured cartridge does not affect your warranty at all and in fact, it is illegal for a printer manufacturer to threaten you with a voided warranty.

Are there any drawbacks to using a Refilled cartridge?

The only real negative aspect of using a Refilled cartridge is in fact a pretty minor one: the Ink counter on your printer may not register it.

This is just something that many printer manufacturers do to try to get you to buy their brand of replacement cartridge. All this means is that the ink counter reading will be incorrect, but in reality you will still get the same performance and life out of the Refilled cartridge as you did the brand name one.

Most people are ok with this and it only affects print head cartridges, the ink tank ones are either reset or the microchip in them is replaced so they end up working perfectly.

What kind of life can I expect from a Refilled ink cartridge?

This is probably the #1, most commonly asked question and it really depends upon what you are using your printer to print.

For example, if you print a lot of graphs or pie charts or photos, your cartridge will not last as long. As a general rule, our Refilled cartridges will print the equivalent or outlast their brand name counterparts.

How many times can a cartridge come in for a toner refill?

Most ink tank variety cartridges can be refilled numerous times.

Print head cartridges vary a bit. They contain electrical circuits that wear out over time. If a fault is found when refilling either type of cartridge, we notify the customer and replace the cartridge if necessary.

Is it possible to refill ANY ink cartridge?

We can refill over 95% of all printer cartridges that our customers bring to us.

For those we can’t refill, we generally stock a generic version or can get one within a few days to make sure you are saving money. Most printer manufacturers release new models at least once a year and it can take time for our suppliers to test all the new models.

On the off chance that we cannot refill your printer cartridge, please check back with us in a month or so to see if the new supplies have been approved. Most refills we have filled and ready to go with very little wait time.

I had problems with another company refilling my cartridges. How do I know your company is any better?

There are many companies around that simply syringe-refill cartridges with no testing.  Those cartridges have a higher failure rate.

At Billings Ink & Toner, all of our cartridges undergo a stringent testing procedure including an electrical and nozzle check. If they fail this test, they do not get refilled. We use the latest available refill technology and each cartridge is then subject to quality testing before it is packaged.

A cartridge only leaves us after it has been tested in our store. We stand by our cartridges. If one fails, just bring it back and we will examine and replace it.

What if I don’t use my printer very often? When I do use it, it seems like I get streaky or faded colors.

Infrequent use is not a good thing for printers. If you don’t use your printer a lot this will happen with both brand name and refilled cartridges. Storing your printer in a very warm room or next to a heat duct can have the same affect.
